চাণক্য এইরূপ ব্যবস্থা করিয়া গিয়াছেন,— “ataojo (Superintendent of boats and ships or Port छब्राउ cमो-विख्ण । • *Pliny the elder relates the fact, after Cornelius Nepos, who, in his account of a voyage to the North says, that in the consulship of Quintus Metellus Celer, and Lucius Afranias ( A. U. O. 694, before Christ 60), certains Indians, who had embarked on a commercial-voyage, were cast away on the coust of Germany, and given as a present, by the King of the Suevians, to Metellns who was at that time procousular Governor of Gaul. The work of Cornelius Nepos has not come down to us; and Pliny, as it seems, has abriged too much. The whole tract would have surnished a considerable event in the history of navigation. At present we are left to conjecture, whether the Indian adventurers sailed round the Cape of Good Hope, through the Atlantic Ocean, and thence into the Northern Seas; or whether they made a voyage still, more extraordinary, passing the island of Japan, the coast of Siberia, Kamschatka, Zembla in the Frozen Ocean, and thence round Lapland and Norway, either nto the Baltic or the German ocean.” - - .
