নরেন্দ্র ও শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণের প্রচার কার্য্য २०१ "The one idea which distinguishes the Hindu religion from every other in the world, the one idea to express ■ which the sages almost exhaust the vocabulary, of the Sanskrit language is that man must realise God. * * Thus to realise God, the Brahman as the Advaitas (dualistas) say, or to become Brahman as the Advaitas say is the aim and end of the whole teachings of the Vedas.” Reply to Madras Address. স্বামী, ২৯শে অক্টোবর ১৮৯৬ খৃষ্টাব্দে লণ্ডন নগরে বক্তৃতা করেন :– বিষয়, ঈশ্বরদর্শন (Realisation ) । এই বক্তৃতায় কঠোপনিষৎ পাঠ করিয়া নচিকেতার কথা উল্লেখ করিলেন। নচিকেতা ঈশ্বরকে দেখিতে চান, ব্ৰহ্মজ্ঞান চান। ধৰ্ম্মরাজ যম বলিলেন, বাপু যদি ঈশ্বরকে জানিতে চাও, দেখিতে চাও, তাহা হইলে ভোগ আসক্তি ত্যাগ করিতে হইবে, ভোগ থাকিলে যোগ হয় না, অবস্তু ভালবাসিলে বস্তুলাভ হয় না। স্বামী বলিতে লাগিলেন, আমরা বলিতে গেলে সকলেই নাস্তিক, কতকগুলি বাক্যের আড়ম্বর লইয়া ধৰ্ম্ম ধৰ্ম্ম বলিতেছি। যদি একবার ঈশ্বরদর্শন হয়, তাহা হইলেই প্রকৃত বিশ্বাস আসিবে। “We are all atheists and yet we try to fight the man who tries to confess it. We are all in the dark ; religion is to us a mere nothing, mere intellectual assent, mere talk —this man talks well and that man evil. Religion will begin when that actual realisation in our souls begins. Then will be the down of religion * * * Then will real faith begin.”
