The writer of this small opera is a Bengali lady who is very favorably known to our readers as the authoress of Dip Nirvan a novel which has been noticed at considerable length in a previous number of this Horicu. The present work fully sustains the reputation of its writer. The subject of the opera is a well conceived story of two male and two female lovers, The story is told in an exquisite style. Tho authoress displays high poetical powers, and many of her descriptions are charming webs of fancy woven by a fine and subtle instinct of poetry.
This is indeed the best Bengali opera we have yet sech. Its writer is an honour to her sex and to her country.
