He was so exceedingly attentive to his duties, that he followed the king like his shadow, and implicitly performed his behests. He thereby became a great favorite with the monarch, and began to treat the royal ministers and attendants with haughtiness. They therefore assembled together, and determined to adopt some plan to prevent his having access to the royal council. It appeared the result of their united advise, to inform the porter, that they had received the commands of the monarch not to allow the brahmun Bhuguvan, to enter the council chamber. The porters, after these instructions, excluded him from the royal presence. Bhuguvan said it was the will of God, and departed to histown house. The king much detressed at his absence, one day asked his counsellors why Bhuguvan pundit did not attend; on which they all united in saying that he was dead.
