RU LES for the Examination of Candidates for insertion in the list directed to be annually furrished to ( overum, nt by the Notification of the Governor-General, dated 10th October, 181 #. 1 No one shall be allowed to become a Candidate for insertion in the Annual Returns, who is less than 18 or more than 23 years of age; and who is not at the time a Student either of a Government or of a private Institutiou recognized by the Countil of 1.ducation. All compotitors must likewise produce satisfactory proofs of good unoral character. 2. Every Candidate, whether he belong to a Government College or a private Institutiton, shall be required to undergo the usual Annual Exaimination for Senior English Scholarships, a Latin being substituted for a Weinacular Essay, at the option of each Candidate. 3. There shall be two classes of merit: the first shall comprehend all who are in the last year of a Senior Scholarship, or who, though not actually in the last year, would be so, is there had been a vacant Scholarship at the time when they first became eligible for one ; or have been engaged for ten years in the study of Inglish at a private lnstitution, and who obtain at least oths of the number of marks allowed in each subject.
