The 9th January 1894 —Under section 8, Act I (BC) of 1876 (an Act to provide for the voluntary registration of Muhammadan marriages and divorces), the LieutenantGovernor has been pleased to grant a license to Maulvi Nošborur Rahman authorizing him to register Muhammadan marriages and divorces, and to exercise the other functions of a Muhammadan Registrar within the police-stations of Kushtia, Nayapara, Daulatpur and Bhadalia in the district of Nadia. Under section 2, Act XII of 1880 (an Act for the appointment of persons as Kans), the Lieutenant-Governor has also been pleased to grant a sanad (license) to the Maulvi appoıntıng hını Kazı of the abovemeutioned thaias’for the celebration of marriages and the performance of other rites and ceremonies when applidation is made to him to perform any such functions H J S Cotton, Chief Secy to the Gott of Bengal.
