( ৮২৬ ) [Pas* II. Customs.—The 13th July 1877.-The late Captain H. Lawrell, Superintendent Customs Preventive Service, was on leave on medical certificate, under Section 8, Supplement F of the Civil Leave Code, from the 19th September 1876 to the 14th January 1877. The leave of absence for one month and twenty-five days, under Section 21, Chapter VI of the Civil Leave Code, granted to Captain Lawrell under orders of the 15th September last, is hereby cancelled. MUN1c1PAL.—The 6th July 1877.-The Lieutenant-Governor is pleased to accept the resignation tendered by Dr. J. A. Greene of his office of Vice-Chairman of the Commissioners for the Municipality of Serampore. Mr. S. Tremearne is appointed, under Section 18, Act V (B.C.) of 1876, to be ad interim Vice-Chairman of the Commissioners of the Municipality of Serampore. Road CEss.-The llth July 1877.—Mr. C. M. W. Brett, Sub-divisional Officer of Serajgunge, is appointed as a member of the District Road Cess Committee of Pubna. The 17th July 1877. —Baboo Jugut Chunder Shome, Sub-Deputy Collector, is appointed to be Vice-Chairman of the Branch Road Cess Committeopf Baraset, vice Baboo Poorna Chunder Roy, transferred. The following notifications are republished from the Assam Gazette : The 5th July 1877.-Mr. T. J. Murray, c.s., Assistant Secretary to the Chief Commissioner, is appointed to officiate as Secretary during the absence of Mr. Ridsdale, on leave. Mr. G. Godfrey, c.s., Officiating Assistant Commissioner, Second Grade, Khasi and Jaintia Hills, is appointed to officiate as Assistant Secretary to the Chief Commissioner, vice Mr. T. J. Murray. Mr. G. H. Damant, of the Bengal Civil Service, attached to the Assam Commission, having passed an examination in the Manipuri language according to the standard prescribed in the Government of India’s (Home Department) Resolution No. 35–1307-18, dated the 4th May 1874, paragraph 4, has been presented with the authorized donation of Rs. 1,000. 敬 S. The 16th July 1877.—It is hereby notified that the two declarations published in the Calcutta Gazettes dated respectively the 15th April and 3rd September 1874, for the acquisition of land required for the first and second sections of the Tannore Feeder Road in the Rajshahye district, are cancelled. The 17th July 1877.—Under Section 2 of the District IRoad Cess Act, 1871, the Lieutenant-Governor is pleased to direct that the cesses leviable under the said Act shall take effect in the district of Chittagong from the 1st October 1877. Under Section 70 of the aforesaid Act, the Lieutenant-Governor is pleased to determine that the month in which the District Committee shall meet to prepare estimates of income and expenditure for the cess year commencing on the 1st October 1877, as in the said section provided, shall be August 1877 in the said district.
