The 9th October 1877—Mr. A. W. Paul, Asistant Commissioner, Dujeding. is appointed to be Vice-Chairman of the Darjeeling District Road Cess Committee. The following Notifications are republished from the Assam Gazette : The 22nd September 1877.-Privilege leave of absence for the ensuing Dusserah Vacation, under the rules contained in Chapter VII of the Civil Leave Code, has been granted to Baboo Nil Madhab Samanta, First Moonsif of Sylhet. Privilege leave of absence for the ensuing Dusserah Vacation, under the rules contained in Chapter VII of the Civil Leave Code, has been granted to Baboo Sasi Bhusan Sen, Second Sudder Moonsif of Sylhet. ë HoRacE A. Cockes ELL, Offg. Secy. to the Govt. of Bengal. ROAD CESS NOTIFICATION. District of HAzAREEBAGB. The 4th October 1877.—It is notified, under Section 75 of Act X (B.C.) of 1871 (the District Road Cess Act), that the Road Cess Committee of the district of Hazareebagh have, under Section 74 of the Act, determined to levy the cesses under that Act for the cess year running from 1st October 1877 at the following rates:— I. Six pies, or two pice, on every rupee of the annual value of lands under Parts II and III of the Act. II. The following rates on non-agricultural houses and shops estimated to be of the present value of Yearly Cess. Rs. A. P. Not less than Rs. 100, but less than Rs. 500 ... 1 0 0 2 y 500, JJ 1,000 ... 8 () () JJ 1,000, 92 2,000 ... 4 8 0 J) 2,000 and upwards, Rs. 3 for every Rs. 1,000 or part thereof of the estimated present value. Shops and buildings used for purposes of trade, whose estimated present value is more than Rs. 25 and less than Rs. 100, to pay a yearly tax of one rupee; if valued at -" 100 or more, to pay according to the rate above entered. The 8th October 1877–It is notified, under Section 75 of Act X (B.C.) of 1871 (the District Road Cess Act) that the Road Cess Committee of the district of Durbhunga have, under Section 74 of the Act, determined to levy the ceases under that Act for the year beginning on the 1st October 1877 at the following rates, being half the maximum rates, and the said rates are published accordingly — I.
