NOTIFICATION The 16th March 1886 —The following draft of rules which the Lieutenant-Governor proposes to make under clause (k), section 188 of the Bengal Local Self-Government Act, III (B.C.) of 1885, is published for general information under section 149 of the said Act, and notice is hereby given that they will be taken futo consideration on or aster the 17th April 1886, when any objections or suggestions which may be made by any person and received before that date will also be considered : HospitaLs AND DISPENSARIES Appointment of Medical Officers 1 The medical officers of hospitals and dispensaries placed under the control and administration of District Boards by the Lieutenant-Governor under section 06, or provided by the District Boards under section 67, shall be appointed by the Inspector-General of Civil Hospitals They shall ordinarily be taken from the Subordinate Medical Service of Government, but whon no momber of that service is availablo, any other person may be appointed with the previous sanction of Govornment. The District Board may determine the grade of medical officer to be appointed when such officer belongs to the Government establishment, provided that the grade shall not be lowered without the sanction of the Inspector-General of Civil Hospitals. 2 The Inspector-General of Civil Hospitals may at any time, for départmental or other reasons, remove or transfer auy Government medical subordinate from the charge of any such hospital or dispensary, and appoint another medical subordinate to succeed him. In every such case the transit pay and travelling allowance both of the officer transferred and of his successor shall be entirely paid by Government. o 8. The Inspector-General of Civil Hospitals may remove the medical officer of any such hospital or dispensary who is not in the Government service, either on the application ard based on what appear to the Inspector-General of Civil Hospitals to of the District Bo * > & be sufficient grounds, or for professional inefficiency or misconduct.
