On the 8th of May we had the pleasant function of a small afternoon party in honour of Gurudeva's 77th birthday. Just about 30 local representative residents, ‘Indian and European, came in the afternoon with their greetings and we entertained them to tea. It must have been one of the quietest birthdays of his life; we were too shy even to put a garland round his neck, but the day did not pass off entirely barren for him. A very young child came to tea with his father and he had thoughtfully brought a garland for him. —Visva-Bharati News, June, 1937 এই বৎসর জন্মদিন উপলক্ষ্যে আলমোড়ায় রচিত কবিতা ( জন্মদিন' ২২ বৈশাখ ১৩৪৪ ) সেঁজুতি গ্রন্থে সংকলিত আছে। পত্র ২১৯ । ‘আমার যে অনুচর ছিল সে বিস্তারিত বিবরণ লিখবে’ । এতৎপ্রসঙ্গে শ্ৰীমুধাকান্ত রায়চৌধুরীর পতিসরে রবীন্দ্রনাথ’ প্রবন্ধ দ্রষ্টব্য। ১৯৩৭ সালের ২৬ অগস্ট রবীন্দ্রনাথ দীর্ঘকাল পরে পতিসরের জমিদারিতে গিয়াছিলেন । তিনি যে লিখিয়াছেন ‘আমার প্রতিও তাদের [ প্রজাদের ] ভালোবাসা অকৃত্রিম ও গভীর’, শ্ৰীসুধাকাস্ত রায়চৌধুরীর প্রবন্ধে তাহাই সুপরিস্ফুট— ..নরজগতে হঠাৎ দেবতার আবির্ভাব হ’লে মানুষ যেমন উৎফুল্ল হয়ে ওঠে এবং দেবতাকে কি দিয়ে খুশী করবে সেই কথাই ভাবে, প্রজারাও ( শতকরা ৯৯ জনের চেয়েও বেশী মুসলমান ) রবীন্দ্রনাথকে পেয়ে সেই রকম খুশী হয়ে উঠল । তারা কবির কাছে কোন রকমের আর্থিক উপকারের প্রার্থী নয় । তারা কবিকে অনেক দিনের পরে নিজেদের মধ্যে পেয়ে পরমানন্দিত, এ যেন হারাধন ফিরে পাওয়া।. এদের কথা Qやbr
