Magte. has not told me the reasons expressly, but I presume they may be one or other or some of the following reasons — (1) The S. D. O. with his ordinary duties might not have time to try this important CaՏՅ. (2) The S. D. O. might be required to give his evidence in this case. (3) The case is a very important one and as such should be tried by a higher authority than the S. TX. O. Mr. F :—What do you mean by an important case ? i I :—It is important in the sense that the accused is the creature of the most influential Zemindar of the District who is himself an European and a Barrister-at-law too. Mr. F. :-What is the meaning of the word creature you have just used ?
