দর্শনে সেকন্দর তাঁহাকে বিবাহ করিলেন। ইহাতে তদ্দেশীয় লোকেরা এমত সন্তুষ্ট হইল যে তাহারা আর কখন সেকন্দরশাহের প্রতিকুল হইল না। পরে সেকন্দর ভারতবর্ষ জয় করিতে নিশ্চয় করিলেন কিন্তু এই মহাকার্য্যে প্রবর্ত্ত হওনের পূর্ব্বেই পারসীয় রাজ্যের মহা উদ্যানে স্বচ্ছন্দে মৃগয়া করিলেন এবং স্বীয় সাহস দর্শাইয়া স্বহস্তে এক সিংহকে হত করিলেন। তৎসময়েই তাঁহার এক জন বালক ভৃত্য মৃগয়ার নিয়মের উল্লঙ্ঘনপূর্ব্বক ঐ সিংহ ও সেকন্দরশাহের মধ্য স্থানে গমন করতে কোড়ার দ্বারা তাহার দণ্ড করিলেন। ঐ বালক এই অপমানে অতি রাগান্ধতাতে অন্যান্য ব্যক্তিকে সহযোগ করিয়া সেকন্দরশাহের প্রাণ নষ্ট করিতে ষড়যন্ত্র করিতে লাগিল। ঐ ষড়যন্ত্র প্রকাশ হওয়াতে তাহারদিগকে প্রাণ দণ্ড করিতে হুকুম হয় কিন্তু প্রাণ দণ্ড হওনের পূর্ব্বেই তাহারা কহিল যে কালিস্থিনিস আমারদের এই পরামর্শের মধ্যে ছিলেন ঐ ব্যক্তি অসভ্য এক জন অব্যবস্থিত পণ্ডিত তিনি গ্রীক
