লেন যে এই যুদ্ধে আপনারদের যে খরচ হইয়াছে তাহা আমি দেই ও নগর সকল তোমারদিগকে দিয়া উপদ্বীপ হইতে প্রস্থান করি। কিন্তু যখন ঐ সন্ধিপত্রে তাঁহার সহী করিতে হইল তখন তিনি টালমটাল করিয়া কহিলেন যে আমি কি প্রকারে আজ্ঞাব্যতিরেকে নগর ছাড়িয়া দিতে পারি প্রতিদিন ঐ অজ্ঞার অপেক্ষা করিতেছি। কিন্তু ইহাতে যে কিঞ্চিৎ বিশ্রাম পাইলেন সেই অবকাশে সন্ধিপত্রের নিয়ম প্রতিপালনার্থ চেষ্টা না পাইয়া কেবল যুদ্ধযোজন করিতে তৎপর হইলেন। পরে কার্থাজহইতে যুব মাগোর অধীনে ভূরি২ নুতন সৈন্য উপদ্বীপে প্রেরিত হয় তিনি সেই স্থানে পঁহুছিলে তাবৎ বিষয়ের রূপান্তর করিলেন এবং এক মহাযুদ্ধেতে সিরাক্যুসীয়েরদিগকে পরাজিত করিয়া কার্থাজীয়েরদের পক্ষে মঙ্গলবহ এমত এক সন্ধি পত্র তাঁহারদিগকে সহী করাইলেন। তদ্বারা কার্থাজীয়েরা যাহা জয় করিয়াছিলেন তাহা তাঁহারদের হস্তেই থাকিল।
