বিবিধ প্রসঙ্গ—পটেল মহাশয়ের ও অন্য নেতাদের স্বাস্থ্য অহিংস ভারতীয় সংগ্রাম ও রবীন্দ্রনাথ শ্ৰীযুক্ত রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর ভারতবর্ষের বর্তমান অহিংস স্বাধীনতা-সংগ্রাম সম্বন্ধে মু্যয়র্কের সংবাদপত্র-সমিতিকে নিজের যে মন্তব্য গত নবেম্বর মাসে প্রেরণ করেন, তাহ প্রকাশিত করিবার জন্য আমাদিগকে প্রেরণ করেন । আমাদের মাসিক কাগজে তাহ ছাপিতে বিলম্ব আছে দেখিয় তাহ আমরা ফ্রী প্রেসের মারফৎ দৈনিক কাগজসমূহে প্রেরণ করি । তাহা অনেক দৈনিকে ছাপা হইয়াছে দেখিয়াছি । “আনন্দবাজার পত্রিকা,” “য়াড় ভান্স” ও "অমুতবাজার পত্রিকা’ রবীন্দ্রনাথের মন্তব্য যে "মডার্ণ রিভিউ”হইতে প্রাপ্ত তাহ স্বীকার করিয়াছেন,"লিবাটা” তাহা গোপন রাখিতে ব্যর্থ চেষ্টা করিয়াছেন । কবির মন্তব্যটি নীচে মুদ্রিত হইল । “ln answer to the question as to whether india is ready foi [...] 1. : ! - I must repeat that it is the sens of : « : , which conies wish freedom itself that inakes a nation fit for self-rule, because this fitness is not an 'artificial condition imposed from without but a natural process which is inevitally linked up with the creative unfoldment of a uasion's life. We must know that this conferen.,, is going to hold its ... sittings before the world tribunal whose approbation it is eager to wiu.' পিকেটিং পিকেটিং সম্বন্ধীয় অর্ডিন্যান্স যখন বলবৎ ছিল, তখনও কলিকাতায় অনেক মহিল ও পুরুষ তাহা করিয়া দণ্ডিত হইয়াছিলেন । র্তাহীদের অনেকে কারাদণ্ডের মিয়াদ শেষে খালাস পাইয়াছেন। এখন পিকেটিং অর্ডিন্যান্স আর বলবৎ নাই। এখনও পিকেটিং চলিতেছে । যাহার একবার জেল খাটিয়া আসিয়াছেন এরূপ অনেক মহিলা ও ভদ্রলোক আবার এই কাজ করিতেছেন । কিছু দিন আগে পর্য্যস্ত এই কাজটি বে-আইনী ছিল, এখন বে-আইনী নয়—আইনের এমনই মহিমা ! কিন্তু পিকেটিং এখন বে-আইনী না হইলে কি হয় ? সরকারী রাস্তায় পথিক ও যানবাহনের চলাচলে বাধা উপস্থিত করার অভিযোগে সাধারণ আইন অনুসারেই কোন কোন পিকেটার দণ্ডিত হইতেছেন ! তাহাতে বুঝা যাইতেছে, যে,মাশ্লষকে দণ্ড দিবার জন্য পিকেটিং অর্ডিন্যান্সের কোনই প্রয়োজন ছিল না, সাধারণ আইনই যথেষ্ট ছিল ও আছে ; কেন-ন “কৰ্ত্তার ইচ্ছায় কৰ্ম্ম,” অর্ডিন্যান্সগুলা অধিকন্তু ম দোষীয় । পিকেটিং অর্ডিন্যান্স অনুসারেও আগে আগে যাহাদের শাস্তি হইয়াছে, তাহাদের শাস্তিও সব স্থলে আইনসঙ্গত হয় নাই। কারণ, শ্ৰীযুক্ত লুক্মানীর মামলার অপালে বোম্বাই হাইকোর্টের রায়ে এবং অন্য কোন কোন বিচারকের রায়ে এই মত ব্যক্ত হইয়াছে, যে, কেবল নিরুপদ্রব শান্তিপূর্ণ পিকেটিং কোন অপরাধ নহে, ক্রেতা-বিক্রেতাকে ত্যক্ত বিরক্ত করিলে ও তাহাদের কাজে বাধা জন্মাইলে তবে তাহা অপরাধ বলিয়া গণ্য হইতে পারে । পটেল মহাশয়ের ও অন্য নেতাদের স্বাস্থ্য ভারতীয় ব্যবস্থাপক সভার ভূতপূৰ্ব্ব সভাপতি কারারুদ্ধ ত্রযুক্ত বিঠলভাই পটেল মহাশয়ের স্বাস্থ্য খুব
