The University had come down and it was time that they should show that they were relenting. He was sorry to see his dear alma mater in the hands of people who did not know how to conduct the University. This decision was first arrived it by the Syndicate and was then confirmed by the Senate. Further, the auditing of the accounts of the University up to June, 1921, is, I understand, almost ready for submission to the Government, ånd 1 am informed by the Accountant-General that the audit officers propose to make certain suggestions about the current year's accounts as well. This information will, I hope, satisfy the Council that the Government very shortly will be in possession of valuable materials—the audit report and other suggestions of the Accountant-General, and also the views of the Senate —to deal with the matter. Mr. Mitter concluded by once again assuring the Council that when the views of the University and the audit reports and notes were before him, he would stand by every word that he had uttered in the Council in this connection. * abased !
