vi Considering how confined is the number of works writ. ten by natives of the country in pure Bengalee which we possess, it is to be hoped that the present work will form a valuable addition to the library of the student. Though he should be occasionally interrupted, in the perusal of it, by words and phrases of unusual occurrence, yet he will be amply repaid for his labour by the purity of its dic. tion, and by the opportunity which it will afford him of appreciating the resources of the Bengalee language.
