বংশ-পরিচয় “We have come here to-day with the object,-an object which gives us no less pleasure than I hope it will give him-of doing honour to one of our oldest and most prominent fellow-citizens. And I would like to take the opportunity of thanking the administration of this School for giving the chance of paying my humble tribute to a man whom I have not had the privilege of knowing very long, as we older men count time, but whom I have known long enough to admire and respect and to deem myself fortunate that I can claim him as a friend. Rai Bahadur Kali Charan Sen may well be called the father of the School in which we are met together this morning. Others can claim to have their shares in this institution. Without their valuable assistance and co operation the Rai Bahadur's efforts must have conne to nothing, as he would be first to admit. But it was his foresight, his initiative, his energy which gave birth to the idea of this Bengali School and fostercd the idea until it took definite shape and matured into strong and healthy being. Generation of Bengalis in Gauhati will reimember 'the name of the foufider of the School and the sons of the race will pay reverence to his portrait which I have the privilege to unveil to-day.
