ඊigili2| || ᎨᏩ: শূন্য হইলে তিনিই উহা অস্থায়ীভাবে অধিকার করেন। ইতিপূর্বে কোম । ভারতবাসীকে উক্ত পদ প্রদত্ত হয় নাই। এক বৎসরাধিক কাল পরে ইংলণ্ড । হইতে ডাক্তার থিবো ঐ পদে নিয়োজিত হইয়া আসিলে পণ্ডিত মহাশয় মিওর কলেজে পূৰ্ব্বপদে ফিরিয়া আসিলেন। এখানে কখন ইতিহাস, কখন দর্শন, এবং : কখনও বা ইংরেজী সাহিত্যের অধ্যাপনা করিয়া। ১৮৭২ অব্দ হইতে তিনি সংস্কৃতের ২ স্থায়ী অধ্যাপক হন। ইহার ১৫ বৎসর পরে মহামহোপাধ্যায় পণ্ডিত আর. টি. এচ. গ্রিফিথ, মহোদয় তাহাকে যে নিদর্শনপত্ৰ দিয়াছিলেন আমরা নিয়ে । তাহার আমূল প্ৰতিলিপি প্ৰদান করিলাম। গ্রিফিথ সাহেব পণ্ডিত মহাশয়ের জীবনের প্রথম ৪৪ বৎসরের একপ্রকার সংক্ষিপ্ত কাহিনী লিপিবদ্ধ করিয়াছেন ;- I have known Pandit Adityaram Bhattacharya, M.A., for about five and twenty years, and have much pleasure in bearing testimony to his good abilities and high attainments, his excellent work as a Professor and Examiner, and his irreproachable conduct and character. Pandit Adityaram Bhattacharya's maternal grandfather was Professor of Vedanta in the Benares Sanskrit College, and he himself was born at Allahabad. He was sent at an early age to the Benares College School, and passed with great credit through the classes of that institution which was then under my charge. He matriculated in 1864, passing in the first or highest class, and obtaining in consequence a Government scholarship and prize; and throughout his college career, in which he passed with great credit the local and the University Examinations, and gained additional scholarships and prizes, his regularity and attention to his studies, his rapid progress, and his good manners and conduct gave me and all his teachers entire satisfaction. He passed the B. A. Examination, in the Second Division, in 1869, and the M. A. Examination (for which he took up Sanskrit) in 1871. Pandit Adiyaram Bhattacharya has served in various posts in the Education Department, and has done very good service in all of them.
