দোকান খোলেন। পুস্তকের ব্যবসায়ে তাহার বিলক্ষণ লাভ হইয়াছিল। তিনি ভরসা। করিয়া অতঃপর একটি বাংলা মুদ্রাযন্ত্র স্থাপন করেন। তাহার মুদ্রাযন্ত্রটি ১৮১৮ খ্রীষ্টাব্দে স্থাপিত হয়। ইহার নাম-বাঙ্গাল গেজেট প্রেস বা আপিস।
মুদ্রাযন্ত্র স্থাপনের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে গঙ্গাকিশোরের দৃষ্টি পড়ে সংবাদপত্র-প্রকাশের উপর। তখন পর্যন্ত খাস কলিকাতা হইতে কোন বাংলা সাময়িক-পত্র বাহির হয় নাই; বাঙালীর একখানি বাংলা সংবাদপত্র হইলে অনেক পাঠক জুটিতে পারে। এই অভাব পুরাণ হয় ‘বাঙ্গাল গেজেটি’র দ্বারা। পত্রিকা-প্রকাশের সঙ্কল্পের কথা। ১৮১৮ সনের ১৪ই মে তারিখের ‘গবর্মেণ্ট গেজেট’ নামক ইংরেজী সাপ্তাহিক পত্রে মুদ্রিত নিমোন্ধত বিজ্ঞাপন হইতে জানা যায়:–
HURROCHUNDER ROY begs leave to inform his Friends and the Public in general, that he has established a BENGALEE PRINTING PRESS, at No. 45, Chorebagaun Street, where he intends to publish a WEEKLY BENGAL GAZETTE, to comprise the Translation of Civil Appointments, Government Notifications, and such other Local Matter, as may be deemed interesting to the Reader, into a plain, concise, and correct Bengalee Language; to which will be added the Almanack, for the subsequent Months, with the Hindoo Births, Marriages, and Deaths.
Advertisement for insertion in this Gazette, will be recevied at 2 Annas per line. English and Persian, the same Price.
Gentlemen wishing to become Subscribers to this Weekly Publication, will be pleased to send their Names to HURROCHUNDER ROY, at his PRESS, No. 45, Chorebagaun Street, where every information will be thankfully received.

ইহার অব্যবহিত পরেই ‘বাঙ্গাল গেজেট’ প্রকাশিত হয়। পত্রিকা প্রকাশের পর ৯ জুলাই ১৮১৮ তারিখের ‘গবৰ্মেণ্ট গেজেট’ এই বিজ্ঞাপনটি মুদ্রিত হয়:–
Having established a BENGALEE PRINTING PRESS and a WEEKLY BENGAL GAZETTE, which he publishes on Fridays, containing the Translation of Civil Appointments, Government Notifications and Regulations, and such other LOCAL MATTER as are deemed interesting to the Reader, into a plain, concise and correct Bengalee language, and having spared no pains or trouble to render it as interesting as possible, earnestly hopes that in consideration of the heavy expense which he has incurred, Gentlemen who have a knowledge and proficiency in that language, will be pleased to patronise his undertaking, by becoming subscribers to the BENGAL GAZETTE. No publication of this nature having hitherto been before the Public, HURROCHUNDER ROY trusts that the community in general will encourage and support his exertions in the attempt which he has made, and afford him a small share of their Patronage.
