তৃতীয় পরিচ্ছেদ, ১৮৩৫-১৮৩৯ CSS শ্ৰীনাথ রায়ের অনুপস্থিতিকালে গৌরীশঙ্কর তর্কবাগীশ ‘সন্ধান্দ ভাস্কর’ সম্পাদন করিয়াছিলেন। মকদ্দমার পর শ্ৰীনাথ রাষ্য অল্প দিনই জীবিত ছিলেন ; ১৮৪০ সনের অক্টোবর মাসে তাহার মৃত্যু হয় । ‘ক্যালকাটা কুরিয়ার’। ১৪ই নবেম্বর ১৮৪০ তারিখে ‘সংবাদ ভাস্কর’-পরিচালক গৌরীশঙ্কর সম্বন্ধে যে মন্তব্য করিয়াছিলেন, তাহা উদ্ধৃত করিতেছি :- We understand that the death of Sreen auth Roy will not, in the least, diminish the usefulness and efficiency of the Bhaskar, as an appropriate instrument for the cultivation of the Bengally language, and a legitimate organ of at least a certain section of the Hindoo community. Sreen auth Roy was not the principal editor of the paper. His contributions to it formed but a small part of the editorials. The individual to whom praise is due for tho able manner in which that paper has hitherto been conducted, is still in the land of the living. He is the quondam Bengally editor of the Gyantaneshu, His writings, as far as we have been able to judge, are always characterized by good seise and a vigorout style. Being frced from the trammels of Hindoo superstition, he gladly embraces every opportunity of exposing the folly of his bigotted countrymen, and shewing the great utility of cultivating European knowledge. In saying this, we do not in the Jeast wish to detract from the merits of Sreenauth Roy, who, though not so well qualified as the present editor in conducting a Bengally newspaper, was nevertheless a valuable coadjutor. After this explanation our contemporaries need not entertain any fear as to the fate of the Bhaskar. উদ্ধৃত অংশ হইতে স্পষ্ট জানা যাইতেছে, “জ্ঞানান্বেষণ’ পত্রের বাংলা-বিভাগের ভূতপূর্ব সম্পাদক গৌরীশঙ্কর তর্কবাগীশই ‘সম্বাদ ভাস্করে’র প্রধান সম্পাদক ছিলেন। এ কথার অন্য প্রমাণও আছে । আমি ১৭ সেপ্টেম্বর ১৮৪৪ তারিখের একখানি কীটদষ্ট ‘সম্বাদ ভাস্কর” পাইয়াছি। ইহার ১০০ ১৮-১৯ | ১০১৮-১৯ ] পৃষ্ঠায় গৌরীশঙ্কর তর্কবাগীশ তাহার “প্ৰতিপালক মিত্ৰ” শ্ৰীনাথ মল্লিকের মৃত্যুতে যে দীর্ঘ সম্পাদকীয় প্ৰস্তাব লেখেন, তাহার যেটুকু পড়িতে পারা গিয়াছে, নিম্নে উদ্ধৃত কবিলাম :- এজন্য এই ভাস্কর পত্ৰ শ্ৰীনাথ রায়ের নামে প্ৰথম প্ৰকাশ কবি, * * * * লিখিব এবং আবশ্যক মতে টাকা ঃ * * লইব, যাহা লভ্য হুইবে শ্ৰী ** * শ্ৰীনাথ রায় আমারদি * * * * মাত্র সম্পাদক হইয়া + # * করিতে লাগিলেন, এবং * * * কিঞ্চিৎ কাল পরেই রসরাজ সম্পাদক শ্ৰীযুক্ত কালীকান্ত গঙ্গোপাধ্যায় কটক হইতে আসিয়া পূৰ্ব্বালাপিত শ্ৰীনাথ রায়ের সঙ্গে আমারদিগের বাসায় আসিয়া রহিলেন, তাহাতেই রসরাজ পত্র কালীকান্ত গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়। প্ৰকাশ করেন, এবং দুই ব্যক্তিই আমারদিগের বাসায় রছিলেন, তৎপরে রাজনারায়ণ রায় রসর * * * মনে করিলেন ঐ পত্রে তাহার দুর্নােম প্রকাশ হইয়াছে অতএব ঐ পরাক্রান্ত রায়

১৮৪০ সনে ‘ভাস্কর’-সম্পাদক শ্ৰীনাথ রায়ের ৪৪ পৃষ্ঠার একখানি জীবনচরিত প্রকাশিত হয়। এখানি পাওয়া গেলে হয়ত তাহার সম্বন্ধে অনেক কথা জানা যাইবে।
