yO জীবন-চরিত নিকট সতীর ন্যায় প্ৰকৃতি তাহার উপাসকের নিকট আপনার প্রচ্ছন্ন সৌন্দৰ্য্য প্ৰকাশিত করেন । কবিগণই প্ৰকৃতির যথার্থ উপাসক। সাধারণের নিকট প্রকৃতির যে মূৰ্ত্তি শুষ্ক ও কঠোর বলিয়া বোধ হয়, কবির নিকট তাহ সরস ও লালিত্যময় প্ৰতীয়মান হয় । তোমরা প্ৰকৃতির উপাসক বা কবি হও,বাহাজগতের অদৃষ্টপূৰ্ব্ব শোভা দেখিয়া মুগ্ধ হইবে।* এই সঙ্গে মানব-হৃদয়েরও গুঢ় রহস্য আলোচনা করিতে শিখ। অপমানিত মানব-হৃদয় প্ৰতিহিংসায় কি পিশাচ্যমূৰ্ত্তি ধারণ করে, তাহার দৃষ্টান্ত দেখ এই সাইলকে ; ভবিষ্যতে কি ঘটিবে চিন্তামাত্র না করিয়া প্ৰেমিক কেমন পতঙ্গের ন্যায় অগ্নিকুণ্ডে ঝাপ দেয়, তাহার দৃষ্টান্ত দেখ এই রোমিও ও এই জুলিয়েটে ; প্ৰণয়িণীর উপর সন্দেহ জন্মিলে প্ৰণয়ী কিরূপ উন্মত্রের ন্যায় কাৰ্য্য করে, তাহার দৃষ্টান্ত দেখ এই ওথেলোয় । এই বাহ্যজগতের ও এই অন্তর্জগতের রহস্যভেদ করিতে না পারিলে তোমাদিগের শিক্ষার সার্থকতা হইবে না । দেখা যে মহাকবিগণ এই অপ্ৰত্যক্ষ

To cold and vulgar minds how large a portion of this beautiful world is a dreary blank They recognise nothing but an uninteresting monotony in the daily aspect of the earth or sky. It is the spirit of poetry which keeps the world fresh and young. To a poetical eye every morning's sun seen s to look rejoicingly on a new creation. Poetry widens the sphere of our purest and most permanent enjoyments. It makes the familiar new, the past present, the distant near. It is the philosopher's stone discovered ; it transmutes everything into gold. তিনি অন্যত্ৰ লিখিয়াছিলেন It is the part of poetry to lift us above the reach of petty cares and Sensual desires ; and to make us feel that there is something nobler and more permanent than the ordinary pleasures of the world. It is a species of religion. Poets are nature's priests. They lead us "from nature upto nature's God."
