যুরোপ-প্ৰবাস । a bit of "Lecture' for you and the gents who fancy that they are swarthy Macaulays and Carlyles and Thackerays I assure you, they are nothing of the sort. I should scorn the pretensions of that man to be called “educated' who is not master of his own language. I am sorry for your little son, for I am afraid, the mistaken kindress of your parents will not suffer him to be made a man ; of course, I am far from condemning your filial respect for their feelings. You again date your letter from "Bagirhat.' Is this "Bagirhat' on the bank of my own native river ? I have been lately reading Petrarca - the Italian Poet, and scribbling some 'sonnets' after his manner. There is one addressed to this very river $35, I send you this and another-the latter has been very much liked by several European friends of mine to whom I have been translating it. I dare say, you will like it too. Pray, get these sonnets copied and sent to Jatindra and Rajnarain and let me know what they think of them. Il dare say the sonnet “bigat-o î” will do wonderfully well in our language. I hope to come out with a small volume, one of these days. I add a third ; I flatter myself that since the day of his death tits obsest never had such an elegant compliment paid to him. There's variety for you, my friend. I should wish you to show these things to Rajendra also, for he is a good judge. Write to me what you all think of this new style of Poetry. Believe me, my dear fellow, our Bengali is a very beautiful language,
