তাহার পর তিনি মেকলে ও ম্যালেসন হইতে উদ্ধৃত করিয়া তাহ প্রতিপাদনের চেষ্ট৷ করিয়াছেন ও পরে বলিতেছেন —
“In face of such a consensus of opinion, do Bengalees advance their reputation, do they serve the interests.of truth, when they put forward this infamous person, this genuine ‘Captain-General of iniquity” as one of the noblest specimens of their race, as their champion, leader and representative, their ideal of a hero 2 No, such a view is essentially unfair to Bengalees and to Brahmins. Nuncomar was not only not the Noblest of Bengalees, but not even a typical or average Bengalee. Macaulay suggests that he was one of the worst specimens of a Bengalee and indeed as much inferior to the average Bengalee as the Italian is to the Englishman and in that view he is absolutely right. No Bengalee has equalled him in villainy.” তাহার পর বারওয়েলের পত্রলিখিত নন্দকুমারের জীবনী স্থানে স্থানে উদ্ধৃত করিয়া সঙ্গে সঙ্গে নবকৃষ্ণের জীবনীলেখকের ন্যায় মত প্রকাশ করিয়া নন্দকুমারের বিচার ও ফাঁসি সম্বন্ধে নবকৃষ্ণের জীবনীলেখকের যাহা বলা উচিত, সেইরূপ মতামতই প্রকাশ করিয়াছেন। আমরা স্থানে স্থানে তাহার আলোচনা করিতে চেষ্টা পাইব। পরিশেষে নন্দকুমার সম্বন্ধে তিনি শেষ মন্তব্য এইরূপ প্রকাশ করিয়া নন্দকুমারের আত্মাকে, আমাদিগকে ও সাধারণ বাঙ্গালৗদিগকে শান্তিলাভের অবকাশ দিযাছেন। আমরা নিয়ে তাহা উদ্ধৃত করিতেছি ঃ—
