&8२ রবীন্দ্র-রচনাবলী ‘কাচা আম’ কবিতার শেষ স্তবকে ষে ঘটনাটির উল্লেখ আছে সেই প্রসঙ্গে ঐমৈত্রেী দেবীর ‘মংপুতে রবীন্দ্রনাথ’ গ্রন্থের নিম্নোদ্ভূত রবীন্দ্র-বাক্যটুকু প্রণিধান ধোগ্য— बारना, अरूवाब्र बीज औवप्न अङ्गना गtaहिलूम, थांशः । नटून cशै?ीन क्tिब्रहिष्णन, भाजिभूब्र नंत्रांब्र চান করতে গিয়ে জলে পড়ে গেল, খুব দুঃখ হয়েছিল । -वरशूदङ ब्ररीौठानांथ, न९ १, शृ २०९ চণ্ডালিকা ‘চণ্ডালিকা’ নাটিকাটি ১৩৪০ সালের ভাদ্র মাসে গ্রন্থাকারে প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয় । ভাদ্রের শেষে কলিকাতায় ম্যাডান থিয়েটারে রবীন্দ্রনাথ উহা আগাগোড়া আবৃত্তি করিয়া শুনাইয়াছিলেন। ইহার আখ্যান-অংশ রাজেন্দ্রলাল মিত্র-কতৃক সম্পাদিত The Sanskrit Buddhist Literature of Nepal (Published by the Asiatic Society of Bengal, 57, Park Street, 1882) stooz & 3 o-88 পৃষ্ঠায় বর্ণিত বিবরণ হইতে গৃহীত। ‘ভূমিকায় গল্পটির যে-অংশটুকু রবীন্দ্রনাথ অনুবাদ করিয়া দিয়াছেন তাহ প্রথমাধৰ্মাত্র। গল্পের শেযাধ মূল গ্রন্থ হইতে কৌতুহলী পাঠকদের জন্ত নিম্নে মুদ্রিত হইল— Matters, however, did not progress so satisfactorily as could be wished. The girl, disappointed at night, rose early the next morning, put on her finest apparel, and stood on the road by which Ānanda daily went to the city for alms. Ananda came, and she followed him to every house he went for alms. This caused a great scandal, and Ananda, followed by the girl, ran back to the hermitage, and reported the occurence to the Lord. The Lord was then called upon to exercise diplomacy to save the character of his disciple. He said to Prakriti, “You want to marry Ananda. Have you got the permission of your parents f Go, and get their permission.” This afforded but slight respite, for Prakriti soon returned from the city with her parents' permission. The Lord then said, ‘Should you wish to marry Ānanda, you must put on the same kind of ochre-coloured vestment which he uses.” She agreed, and thereupon her head was shaved, she was made to put on ochre-coloured cloth, divested of her vicious motives, and had all her former sins removed by the mantra called
