As regards Bengali science I think this is just the moment when its future may be definitely made or marred. If you incorporate English, Latin or Greek, or even pure Sanskrit terms into the ordinary Bengali scientific language, you will shut the door to popular science. The principles which I should be guided by, if I had the task of selecting or coining scientific terms in the vernacular, would be some thing like these :- (I) To utilize words already in use either in existing books or with educated native gentlemen like Kabirajes, provided they are pure Bengali. (2) Not to reject terms in actual use among the peasants for the simple reason that the so called educated people do not understand them; because after all, every one, high or low, is an authority in the subject or occupation with which he is practically acquainted or which he practises. (3) To utilize provincial terms, if they are short and to the point, especially if they are understood by the common people near large centres of education. It is certainly easier for a Bengali child to learn the meaning of a simple Bengali sounding word and to... remember it than to absorb into his vocabulary a probably longer and stranger sounding Sanskrit term. (4) To avoid literally translating English, Latin or Greek terms into Bengali, when in such translation words have to be utilized which are the names of things not well-known to the majority of Bengali children (5) In some rare cases it may be advisable to simply adopt English, Latin, or Greek terms, if they are short and have a Bengali look about them.” tE YY KEELD gESL KDBB KK tuDDB DDY S DBEKBY YKS LLLLDDDDD সািহত বিচার হইয়াছিল । শেষ পত্রে তিনি লিখিয়াছিলেন,-
