Bengali year 1194, making for the four past years Rs. 15104, and of which they have received only Rs. 7262, the balance therefore due to them on the order is Rs. 7842. But the Board, taking into consideration that the balance was withheld principally in these years when the Zemindary was held Khas, when no allowance of Moshora (excepting in the last) was made, the proprietors and Zemindars of it in seasons, when they experienced great difficulties in the discharge of the public revenue, may not think it just to make them responsible for it, nor do I think the widows can be desirous of the balance, when they know that the payment of it must distress the parties, and believe they will be extremely thankful, if the Board secure to them the regular payment of a maintenance for the future. 4. In order to show that the payment of it would much distress the Zemindars, I herewith send a statement of their account of Moshora both for the past and current years, by which it will be seen that, estimating the net collection at Rs. 26,3000, including the Jama of the separated Landholders, the balance receivable by them amounts to no more than Rs. 6,009 which, with their decent and increased establishment and consequently additional expense the rank of the ancestor invariably throws upon the Hindu progeny, is considered barely sufficient to afford them a subsistence for the remainder of the year. 5. This statement, I am also to observe, neither includes a provision for the widows nor for indispensable religious charges, an expense attached to them and from which they cannot free themselves while they continue proprietors of the Zemindary, without incurring much disgrace and odium in the eyes of all Brahmins and Hindu sects in general. I shall therefore hope, the Board will take these charges into consideration
