R ঐতিহাসিক চিত্র। দিল্লীর পাঠান বাদসাহগণের সময়ে হিন্দু-মুসলমানের সংঘর্ষ ও ইসলাম ধৰ্ম্মপ্রচার অনেক দিন চলিয়াছিল, কিন্তু পরিশেষে তাহ শান্তভাবে ধারণ করে । যদিও বাদসাহ ও রাজপুরুষগণ হিন্দুদিগকে একটু হেয় ভাবে দেখিতেন, কিন্তু তাহাদের প্রতি কোনরূপ অত্যাচার করা হইত না । তাহদের প্রতি জিজিয়া কয় স্থাপিত হইলেও তাহদের ধৰ্ম্মানুষ্ঠানের কোনরূপ ব্যতিক্রম হইত না । সামরিক বিভাগে হিন্দুরা 'অধিকার না পাইলেও হিন্দু জমীদারেরা সৈন্য রক্ষা করিতেন, এবং রাজস্ব ও আয়ব্যয় বিভাগে হিন্দু কৰ্ম্মচারী নিযুক্ত হইতেন। বাবর তাহার আত্মজীবনীতে লিখিয়াছেন যে, তিনি যে সময়ে ভারতবর্ষে উপস্থিত হইয়াছিলেন সে সময়ে, রাজস্ব-কৰ্ম্মচারী, বণিক ও শ্রমজীবিগণ হিন্দু ছিল । * সুতরাং আমরা দেখিতে পাই যে, পাঠান রাজত্ব হইতেই হিন্দুর नहिडी नमिव्हन दादश्। হইয়াছে, এবং রাজস্ব বিভাগ প্রভৃতিতে হিন্দুকৰ্ম্মচারী নিযুক্ত হইতে আরম্ভ হইয়াছে। কোন কোন ঐতিহাসিক হিমু ও মেদিনী রায়ের । নাম উল্লেখ করিয়া বলিয়াছেন যে, তাহারা তাহাদের প্রভুর নিকট হইতে সমস্ত ক্ষমতা পাইয়াছিলেন এবং ইহা ও বলিয়াছেন যে, মোবারিক খিলজীর সময় সমস্ত বিচার ও শাসন হিন্দু ভাবেই সম্পন্ন হইত। ; ইহা হইতে "The officers of revenue, merchants, and work-people were all Hindus." a "The Hindus were regarded with some contempt, but with no hostility. They were liable to a capitation tax (Jizya) and some other invidious distinction, but were nut molested in the exercise of their religion.
