Soon after a son was born to him ; and in obedience to the royal command, he sent intelligence of the event to the king who immediately proceeded to the house of the brahmun, and laid himself down at the threshold of the birth chamber. In the dead of the might, Brumha came to write the destiny of the child on it's forehead, and was in the act of entering the door, when he perceived that it had been closed by Vikramadityu. Enraged at the obstruction, he ordered him to open it. The monarch refused obedience until he knew who it was that made the request. Brumha said, I am Brumha who write the destinies. Hearing this the king was overwhelmed with joy, and said, O Bidhata, since you have condescended to become visible to me, grant my request; instruct me in the destiny you inscribe on the forehead of the child. Bidhata replied, I will inform you of it when I return from the chamber.
