MANASA–PRASUWA. f INDIAN MIRROR. THE 25th JUNE 1879. Manasa-Prasuna, or the flowers of imagination, is the title of a brochure containing five poetical pieces, some of which are characterized by freshness and delightful fragrance. The address to the Ganges is, we think, the best of the collections; but the author has imported into this piece what is inseparable from the writings of the patriotic poets of modern Bengal,—an inclination to bemoan the wretched condition of Bharat-mata, and to cry “ Bharater Jaya, ” without which lamentations and exultations, they seem to think, poetical effusions woud not be complete. The last lines of the last piece, Swapna Prayana, in which Imagination informs the author that the language has been rudely divested of her ornaments by the hands of those deadly foes of hers—the cruel critics—offers a compliment to the reviewers, which, we hope, they will not be slow to appreciate.
