চবিবশ পরগণা । v98 A পরগণার উপসত্ব লর্ড ক্লাইবকে প্ৰদান করিবেন। লর্ড ক্লাইবকে চব্বিশ পরগণার জায়গীর প্রদানে নবাব জাফর আলি খাঁ প্ৰকারান্তরে কোম্পানীকেই ক্লাইবের অধীন করিয়া দেন। অথচ ক্লাইব কোম্পানীর কৰ্ম্মচারী ছিলেন। একপক্ষ প্ৰভু ও আর একপক্ষ মৰ্য্যাদার শ্রেষ্ঠ হওয়ায় ক্লাইব ও তাহার। প্ৰভু কোম্পানীর মধ্যে গোলযোগ চলিতে থাকে। এইরূপ অবস্থায় লর্ড ক্লাইব ভারতবর্ষ হইতে ংলণ্ডে গমন করেন। তথায়ও উক্ত বিষয় লইয়া তাহার কর্তৃপক্ষের সহিত বাদানুবাদ চলিয়াছিল। তাহার পর ক্লাইব পুনৰ্ব্বার বাঙ্গলায় প্ৰত্যাবৃত্ত হইলে র্তাহার চিরস্থায়ী জায়গীর পরিবৰ্ত্তিত হইয়া ০ বৎসরের জন্য র্তাহাকে উক্ত জায়গীর প্রদান করা হয়। ১৭৬৫ খৃঃ অব্দের ২৩এ জুন নবাব নজামউদ্দৌলা” ক্লাইবকে ১০ বৎসরের জন্য চব্বিশ পরগণায় জায়গীর প্রদান করিয়া এক সনন্দ প্ৰদান করেন । * তাহাতে এরূপ লিখিত হয় যে, দশ বৎসর অতীত হইলে চব্বিশ । st “Copy of the Sunnud from the Nabab Najim-ul-I) awlah, for the reversion in perpetuity, of Iord Clive's Jagheer to the Company. Now likewise the said pergunnahs are confirmed as an unconditional jagheer :o the High and Mighty aforesaid from the 16th of May, of the 76 th year of Christ (answering to the 14th of Zelcader, of the 177th fear of the Hegira) to the 16th May, of the 1774th year of Christ answering to the 8th of Rubby-al Awval, of the 188th year of the Higira) being ten years of which one year is expired and there are nine :o come.
