A few years ago a number of Bramhins assembeled at Santipore and began to drink and carouse after it, one proposed a sacrifice to Kali, they assented, but having nothing to sacrifice one cried out where is the goat, on which another more drunken than the rest exclaimed, I will be the goat and at once placed himself on his knees, one of the company then cut off his head with the sacrifical knife, when they woke the next morning from their drunken fit they found the nan with his head off, they hid the Corpse taken to the Ghat burned and reported the man died of Cholera.
