য়ের দ্বারা প্রাপ্ত হইলেন। তিনি উত্তম সেনাপতি কিন্তু অত্যন্ত অপরিমিত ব্যয়ী ঐ যুদ্ধে তাঁহার ধনলাভ হওনের সম্ভাবনা ছিল। এবং যদ্যপি তাঁহার সৈন্য মিথ্রিডাটিসের সৈন্যাপেক্ষা লঘুতর তথাপি বহুকালপর্য্যন্ত লুকলস নিয়ত জয়ী হইলেন। বিশেষতঃ মিথ্রিডাটিস আসিয়ান্তঃপাতি অতিপ্রধান সিজিকম স্থান বেষ্টন করিয়াছিলেন। লুকলস ঐ বেষ্টন রহিত করাইলেন তাহাতে রাজার প্রায় তিন লক্ষ লোক নষ্ট হইল। কিঞ্চিৎ পরে তিনি রাজার যুদ্ধ জাহাজ পরাভূত করিয়া তাঁহাকে বিথিনিয়ান দেশহইতে তাড়াইলেন। পরে নিয়ত জয় করত তিনি মিথ্রিডাটিসকে পৈতৃক অধিকারহইতেও তাড়াইলেন এবং যদ্যপি মিথ্রিডাটিস তার্ত্তার দেশহইতে মহাসৈন্য আনাইলেন তথাপি তাঁহার জামাতা অর্মিনিয়ার রাজা টিগ্রানিসের দরবারে আশ্রয় লইতে হইল।

Pursuing his victorious career, he chased Mithridates through his hereditary dominions, and, notwithstanding a large army which the king had drawn from the wilds of Tartary, constrained him to take refuge at the Court of his son-in-law Tigranes, king of Armenia, B. C. 71.
