Two public spirited gentlemen of the district have come forward to assist in the efforts of the people for improvenient of the villages. Dr. S. M. Siddique of Role has contributed Rs. 100- towards a fund opened in furtherance of rural uplift activites. Babu Dhirendra Kumar Mukherjee of Sonamukhi has offered a silver challenge shield for competition among the Union Boards in the district. 3. On the suggesion of the District Magistrate, the l)istrict Board has consented to administer through a Rural Uplift Committee, the fund started for the purpose and to run the Challenge Shield on the terms and conditions suggested by the District Magistrate. The Rural Uplift Committee will in due course announce the terms and conditions for the competition for a prize to be awarded for the best constructivc scheme of rural uplift which can be carried out without a large expenditure mainly by the voluntary efforts and co-operation of the peoples Committee will also announce the conditions under which the Rural Uplift Challenge Shield will be run. 4.
