বঙ্কিম-কণিকা Western name of University than the Indian Universities or the present system of conferring titles on Indian priests in the hands of the AngloIndian representatives of Her Most Gracious but Christian Majesty : a something which while recognising that learning should in Brahmanic manner be united with purity of life would look less to fame than to material support for the noblest and the most ancient spiritual order in all the world, and a something which would do honor to the Indian wealthy men whose social functions have got so sadly curtailed. f I would have written this in Bengali. But it is first and foremost an address to my Westernised countrymen. And until they are agreed to keep to the East in substance while borrowing the methods •of the West, I am afraid my utterance in Bengali could never count for any better than Babu English.
