P., 1838 pp. 76, Parseabhidhan. Gives the Bengali meaning of 2,8oo Persian words used in business and Courts in Bengal. The author was Serishtadar to the Judge of Nuddea; the work is scarce. Persian is now in the sere and yellow leaf. 2O. PERSIAN AND BENGALI DICTIONARY, Jay Gopal's, Parsik Abhidhan, Ser. P, I84O, pp. 84, contains about 2,5OO Persian words, arranged alphabetically, with their Bengali meanings. 21. RAMCHANDRAS VOCABULARY, 1st ed, 1818, lasted, 1852, pp. I41, 8 as. Popular, but meagre, gives the meaning of 6,6OO difficult words in Bengali, (now scarce.) The author was a Pandit connected with the Calcutta School Book Society, and the first native who composed a Bengali Dictionary. The author excludes "all these inharmonious and disfiguring exotics, which are such blots in ordinary Bengali discourse. 22. ROZARIOS ENGLISH, BENGALL AND HINDUSTANI DICTIONARY, 1837, pp. 525, 6.Rs. In the Romanized character; very useful. The Bengali part was composed by a very able scholar, the late Rev. W. Morton, the Urdu, by Maulavi Haseyn. The English words, 23,OOO, are followed by an English interpretation, then by a Bengali one printed in Italics, then by the Urdu in Roman type,
