Sutherland, Esq., published a GlEOGRAPIIY OF HINDIA, Compiled and translated from Hamilton's Hindustan and other works. In L839 appeared a Geography of Asia, by the II indu College Authoritics. In 184o the Tatvabodhini Sabha published an Elementary Geography, and subsequently their able Secretary, Akhoy Kumar Dut, Composed another, pp. 4O, 24mo. In 1839 the Hindu College Patshala authorities published the Geography of Asia, Pragya, P., 8 as..., pp. 15O, treating of the size, motion, form of the earth, its divisions, particularly of India, its districts, mountains, plains, rivers, islands, the English conquest, trade, revenues, independent states, with a similar account of Russia, Arabia, China, Tartary, Persia. The next year the same authorities published a Bhugol Sutra, General Geography, pp. 63. Giving definitions, the chief divisions of the quarters of the globe, articles of trade-an useful compendium. 79. GENERAL GEOGRAPHY, by Gauri Shankar, Bh. P., 1853, pp. So; 8 as. Treats of the earth as a planet, its motion, shape, gives the Geography of Asia and India, with a summary of Indian history, and enlarges especially on Bengal and its several Zillahs. 9,000 copies have been sold of this, it was compiled chiefly from the Scrampur Geography. It has a small map of the world, and a map giving an outline of the chief geographical features of a country, and is interspersed with information, historical and miscellaneous. 82. GENERAL GEOGRAPIY, Sandy's, Hay & Co, 1842, pp. 66; 4 as, gives in catechetical form General Geography, England, Palestine, Judea, the 23 Zillahs of Bengal, their population, trades-the book is now scarce, and ought to be reprinted-putting the questions at the end. 83.
