The Council of Education designed it to be the first of a series of Vernacular Class Books, but as in other vernacular matters this their first was the last also. But no work has yet appeared treating of the principles of Law. The first work was the translations of the Regulations for 1793, made by Forster, a Civilian, and good Bengali Scholar, a work of about 4OO pp., a curiosity both as to style and typography.
