WYAWAS THA-DARPANA, 734 BIGAMY ANYD POLYGAM. o 419. Bigamy and polygamy appearalso to have been prohibited to men, anless for any of such causes as are mentioned in the following texts “A wife, who drinks any spirit uous liquors, who acts immorally, who shows hatred (to her lord, ) who is incurably diseased (p), who is mischievous, who wastes his property, may at all times be superseded by another wise—A barren wise may be superseded by another in the cighth year; she whose children are all dead, in the tenth; she, who brings (only) daughters, in the eleventh; she, who speaks unkindly, without delay. —But she, who, though afflicted with illness, is beloved and virtuous, must be never disgraced, though she may be superseded by another wife with her onn consent.'—Manu, eh. IX. vs. 80—82, - بيروي (p) “Inourably diseased”, afflicted with leprosy or the like—Kulléka Bhattu. “One who drinks inebriating liquors, who is (incurably) diseased (b), who is quarrelsome (m), or barren, who wastes his wealth, who speaks unkindly, who brings forth only daughters, may be superseded by another wife; and so may she who manifests hatred to her husband.”Jágnyavalkya, (b) “Diseased', infected with a lasting malady”—The Mitákahará.
