ভারত-ভ্ৰমণ । , প্ৰকাশ করিলাম। স্বৰ্গীয়" অক্ষয় কুমার দত্ত র্তাহার গ্রন্থে আরও লিখিয়াছেন যে * জেনেরেল কনিংহেম ঐ (দামু মূৰ্ত্তি) তিনটি বৌদ্ধদিগের বুদ্ধ, ধৰ্ম্ম, সঙ্খ এই মূৰ্ত্তিত্রয়ের বিজ্ঞাপক হওয়াই অতিমাত্র সস্তাবিত বলিয়া বিবেচনা করেন। তিনি সাঞ্চি, অযোধ্যা, উজ্জয়িনী প্ৰভৃতি নানা স্থান হইতেও এমন কি শক রাজাদিগের মুদ্রা হইতেও ঐরূপ ধৰ্ম্মযন্ত্র অনেকগুলি ংগ্ৰহ করিয়া প্ৰকাশ করিয়াছেন। ঐ ধৰ্ম্মযন্ত্র বায়ু, অগ্নি, মৃত্তিকা, জল ও আকাশ বীজ স্বরূপ য র ল ব না। এই পাঁচটি পালি অক্ষরের সমষ্টি স্বরূপ বলিয়া বিবেচিত হইয়াছে। উল্লিখিত তিনটি ধৰ্ম্মযান্ত্রের সহিত জগন্নাথাদি তিন মূৰ্ত্তির অভেদ বা সৌসাদৃশ্য দেখিতে পাওয়া যায়। জেনেরেল কানিংহেম ডিলসা স্তুপ বিষয়ক বত্রিশসংখ্যক চিত্রপটে ঐ উভয়কেই পার্শ্বশাৰ্ম্মি করিয়া মুদ্রিত করিয়াছেন। দেখিলেই শ্ৰীক্ষেত্রের বৈষ্ণবত্ৰিমূৰ্ত্তি তিনটী বৌদ্ধধৰ্ম্মযন্ত্রের অনুকরণ বলিয়া সহজেই প্ৰতিয়মান হয়। ঐ তিনটি যন্ত্র সমগ্ৰ বৌদ্ধত্ৰিমূৰ্ত্তির পরিচায়ক হউক বা না হউক, যখন জগন্নাথপুরীর তিনমূৰ্ত্তি কোনরূপ পরিজ্ঞাত দেবাকৃতি, পশ্বাকৃতি বা প্ৰকৃত মনুষ্যকৃতি নয় এবং যখন ঐ তিন ধৰ্ম্ম যন্ত্রের সহিত তাহার অত্যন্ত সাদৃশ্য দৃষ্ট হইয়া থাকে, তখন উল্লিখিত অনুমানটি সর্বতোভাবেই সস্তাবিত ও সঙ্গত বলিয়া স্বীকার

'In like manner, there seems little doubt that the tooth relic was preserved at Puri till the invasion of the Yavanas, apparently, as before mentioned, to obtain possession of it. According to tle Buddhist version, it was buried in the Jungle, but dug up again shortly afterwards, and conveyed to Ceylon, According to the Brahmanical account, it was the image of Juganát, and not the tooth, that was hidden and recovered on the departure of the Yavanas, and then was enshrined at Juganāt in a new temple on the sands. The tradition of a bone of Krishna being contained in the image is evidently only a Brahimanical form of Buddhist relic worship, and, as has been frequently suggested, the three images of Juganát, his brother Balbhadra and the sister Subhadhra, are only the Buddhist trinity-Buddha, Dharma, Sanga-disguised to suit the altered-condition of belief among the common people.
