The nett amount realised from it in the past year was Rs 2300, and the annual revenue of it may be estimated at this sum which, added to the produce of the one in Rajnagar, will make the total yearly amount from both, receivable by the widows, about Rs. 266o, being little deficient of Rs. 75 per mensem to each of them ; considering however that they have numerous female slaves who form a part of their samily and whom they conceive themselves bound to maintain, that they have also their religious ceremonies to perform attended with an expense, I do not think this allowance adequate. I must further think that the appropriation of land will subject them to a deduction from it for the pay of the officers whom they must necessarily employ, and the amount receivable by them will always much depend on their faithful discharge of the trust; nor have they the loss which may arise for the dishonesty of these servants only to apprehend, but, the further, and probably the greater one from the oppressions of the partners over their tenants, and which they have already experienced in the Taluq in Rajnagar in a degree to lay them under the neces. sity of having a peon at a monthly charge from the Collector for their protection. I therefore submit to the Board, whether it will be more advisable to make a division of the Taluq between the partners, and in lieu of them to fix a monthly stipend for the widows to be paid them regularly by each partner in equal proportion. This stipend. I would propose to be fixed at Rs. ioo per mensem for' èach of the widows which, with the same amount payable to each of the adopted sons, will be Rs. 5oo per mensem from the whole Zemindary or Rs. 100 for each share ; and to secure the regular payment of it to the pensioners after the division of the Zemindary, I submit, the property of each partner entering into an obliga
