I AM directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. 85 L.S.-G., dated the 14th July 1908, in which you report that Babu Vihari Lala Mitra, of Bagbazar, has placed, at the disposal of Government, a sum' of Rs. 10,000 to be devoted to some suitable work of public utility. You suggest that the amount be credited to the fund which is being raised for the construction of a surgical ward in connection with the Sambhu Nath Pundit Hospital at Bhowanipur,
