I do not timderstand the necessity of such an innovation as the in troduction of text-books in vernacular in such subjects, History, Geography &c, nor do I approve the proposal as to the addition of vernacular text-books to the curriculum of the F. A. and B. A. Examinations. 7. The proposal as to the restriction of vernacular text-books up to the standard of the Middle English Examination, e.i. to the fourth class of Entrance schools, is desirable to a certain extent on the ground of diffusion of vernacular knowledge among the people.
