কালিফনিয়ায় বেদান্ত প্রচার। ( Alameda) ও ওকল্যাণ্ড-এ বক্তৃতা দিতেন। এইরূপে সৰ্ব্ব শুদ্ধ প্ৰায় পঞ্চাশটি বক্তৃতা দেওয়া হয়। তাহার অধিকাংশই রাজযোগ, প্ৰাণায়াম, এবং কৃষ্ণ, বুদ্ধ, মহম্মদ, খ্ৰীষ্ট প্রভৃতি মহাপুৰুষ সম্বন্ধীয়।*। এই সময়ে স্বামিজী যে সকল বহুমূল্য বক্তৃতা প্ৰদান করিয়াছিলেন দুর্ভাগ্যক্রমে তাহার অতি অল্পই এক্ষণে পাওয়া যায়। হায্য ! সেই গুৰুভক্ত গুডউইন সাহেব এ সময় জীবিত ছিলেন না। সুতরাং অনেক বক্তৃতাই সম্পূর্ণ লিপিবদ্ধ হয নাই। সংবাদপত্রে কী সকলু বক্তৃতােব যে সারমর্ম প্ৰকাশিত হইতে তাহারই কতক সংগৃহীত হইয়াছে মাত্র। প্ৰাণায়াম সম্বন্ধে স্বামিজী বলিতেন যে শ্বাস জয় হইলে চিত্তজয়। হয়। এই প্রসঙ্গে একবার তিনি নিম্নলিখিত ঘটনাটির উল্লেখ করিয়ছিলেন।
