NOTE: It is not generally a question of preserving the content of the works. Many have been reprinted (though not without changes) in later editions; some are still in print. But the original Fort William first editions are in most cases extremely rare and it is important that they be preserved if they can be found.
The list of Gilchrist’s works includes not only those from his Fort William period, but his earlier ones as well (1786-1804).
This list includes only modern Indic languages. Omitted: Arabic (c. 20 works), Burmese (1 work), Chinese (2 works), Persian (c. 18 works), Sanskrit (c. 24 works).
Because of gaps and discrepancies in the existing documentation, there are bound to be errors in this list. I’d be most grateful if anyone would call them to my attention: <fp7@columbia.edu>.
