Հե՞Հ বৃহৎ दछ নলিনীবাবুর দ্বারাই সম্পূর্ণরূপে পরিচালিত হইয়াছিলেন, সুতরাং ইহাদের দুই মত না ধরিয়া তাহা এক জনের মত বলিলেও অঙ্গায় হইবে না। ষ্ট্রেপলটন সাহেব কিঞ্চিৎ fits life's stric trict fiftfc-" It has all the characteristics of a genuine inscription ”-(SŘ for Miffer gé first te বলিয়াই মনে হয় ] এই শিলালিপি সম্বন্ধে নলিনীকান্ত ভট্টশালী মহাশয় ষ্টেপলটন সাহেবের মারফৎ আরও কতকগুলি কথা লিখিয়াছেন, তাহার কতকাংশ নিয়ে উদ্ধৃত করিতেছি,- “When we were coming away from Saval last June (1920), Babu Harendra Nath Ghosh handed over to me the khata full of litigation notes in which Sj. Ambikacharan Chaudhuri had taken down in pencil the slokas dictated by the late Amritananda Kaviraj. I found that the whole composition was the copy of an inscription on a Math dedicated by Mahendra, son of Harish, Harendra Babu had only utilised a part of the composition, the rest of which was also of unusual interest, Mr. Rankin thereupon undertook to find the original of these slokas and through the aid of Mr. J. N. Roy, I.C.S., and Mr. A. C. Sen, I.C.S., at last succeeded in getting into touch with Babu Pratap Ch. Gupta, the grandson of Amritananda Kaviraj. Pratap Babu ransacked the papers of his grandfather and after much search succeeded in finding the required alokas written in violet ink in the Kaviraj's own hand on a piece of paper only 4' x 8" in size and handed it over to Mr. Rankin. On one side of the paper is seen a transcript in which many slips had occurred and on the reverse the transcript is copied correctly. I shall give below an exact copy of the allotas and a translation; these slokas as already noted appear on A close reading to be the transcript of An inscription attached to an ancient Math, dedicated by Mahendra..... the inscription however is extremely interesting. It takes not of the fact that Harishchandra was a buddhist. It gives the correct boundary of Bhowal or Bhabalina and furnishes us with the important information that it was reclaimed by Dhimanta from the occupation of the powerful Kirats. This supports the statement of the Yoginitantra that Pragjyotish at one time extented up to the confluence of the Lakaya and the Brahmaputra. The Ganges is said to be flowing below Bhowal and thus this statement furnishes proof of the current tradition that the Ganges used to flow in olden times through the Dhalewari channel or even further north along the course of the present Buriganga." ইহায় ভাষার্থ-“শাষয়া গীত জুন (১৯২৯) সালে সাভার হইতে কিরিবার পথে বামুহুক্ষেত্র । মাথা ঘোষ আমার হাতে একখানি খাতা দিলেন। এই খাতায় মোকামা সম্বন্ধে অনেক সুখ ।
