শূন্য থেকে হিরের আংটি
মেয়েদের একটি বাংলা সাময়িক পত্রিকায় ১৯৮১ সালের জুলাই মাসের সংখ্যায় লেখা হয়েছিল সাঁইবাবা শূন্য থেকে একটা হিরের আংটি সৃষ্টি করে নাকি পণ্ডিত রবিশঙ্করকে দিয়েছিলেন। শূন্য থেকে হিরে সৃষ্টির ঘটনা একজন যুক্তিবাদী হিসেবে আমি কিছুতেই মেনে নিতে পারি না। পণ্ডিত রবিশঙ্করকে যে কোন জাদুকরই শূন্য থেকে হিরের আংটি এনে দিতে পারেন। আর এই ধরনের ঘটনা ঘটিয়ে দেখালেই কি ওই জাদুকরকে অলৌকিক ক্ষমতার অধিকারী বলে ধরে নেওয়া হবে?

Declaring that the ashram was backing out “just out of fear of being exposed of its hoax,” Mr. Ghosh told newsmen, “My challenge is still on. My suggestion to get the vibhuti tested before I took it was entirely logical. The fact that the ashram is closing the episode in a hurry shows that it has something to hide.”
Newsmen as well as the hundreds of youths who had assembled at the test waited with bated breath as Mr. Ghosh called out for Ms Ipsita Roy Chakraborty, the witch whose paranormal prowess has hit newspaper headlines recently, to come forward before the gathering. Mr. Ghosh had offered Rs. 50,000 if she could stand his scrutiny.
“We have been trying to contact her even from our tent here,” Mr. Ghosh told newsmen, “but the phone at her residence seems to be constantly engaged. I do not know if the receiver is always kept aside or not. Wouldn't you have considered me a cheat if I had not turned up here today? Not only did she hide herself from us, she did not even send a representative. Any way, our Association is ready to face her at a venue of her choice.”
In the absence of any drama, the proceedings turned out to be a tame affair. Dr. Arun Seal, in-charge of the Boys Scouts’ Tent, handed over an emblem of the key to the tent to Dr. Bishnu Mukherjee, president of the Association. In his speech, Dr. Seal said he was looking forward to the body for making the youth of Bengal rational, a goal that was there for the scouts too.”
