I have the honour to say that there is no intention to tabulate and compile Adi Somal Brahmos as non-Hindus. 1t. has been found necessary to distinguish ordinary Hindus from Theistic Hindus and the only simple way of accomplishing this end For the purposes of statistics, however, in the vernacular lauguage of these provinces Robindra Nath Tagore is to instruct enumerators to enter the former as Hindus and the latter as Brahmos. As the census begins in less than 48 hours from the time I am writing this letter I hope you will agree with me that it is pia bers of the Adi Brahmo Somaj are really Hindus as will appear from the speech of Sır Fıtz James Stephen on the Civil Marriage Act (see the supplement to the Guzette of India Jan. 1872 P 70 etc.) They differ from the general body of Hindus in this one respect that they do not worship images and are pure Theists.
