Soon after Nebuchadnezzar’s last return to Babylon he had a dream which was so remarkable as to give him great anxiety. He dreamed that he saw a tree spring out of the ground, and gradually rise and spread, till its top reached to heaven, and its branches extended to the ends of the earth. It darkened the Skypd overshadowed the world. It was covered with verdant and beautiful leaves, and tempting fruit. All the birds of the air nestled in its branches, all the beasts of the earth drew together under its shadow; every living thing received nourishment from it.
