8o o সাহিত্য-পরিষদ-পত্রিকা । [ कार्खिक (II.) That the University be moved to adopt a regulation to the effect that in History, Geography and Mathematics, at the Entrance Examination the answer may be given in any of the living languages recognized by the Senate, Upon this report the Parishad has by a resolution dated the 5th of the current month, desired me to move the Syndicate to take steps for giving effect to the first reconmendation aad to consider the feasibility of the second, 4. In accordance with the resolution of the Parishad just referred to, I bog, under para. 12 of the Bye-Laws relating to the Syndicate, to propose for the consideration of the Syndicate the following regulation :- That at the F. A. Examination and at the B, A, Examination in the A. Alourse where a classical language is taken as the third subject, a paper be set containing (i) passages in English for translation into one of the vernaculars of India recognized by the Senate, (ii) a subject of original composition in one of the said vernaculars, text-books being recommended as models of style, And I beg further to request that the Vice-Chancellor and the Syndicate will be pleased to consider how far under present circumstance the second recommendation referred to in the preceding paragraph may be given effect to. 5. The reasons for and against the recominendation mentioned above have been discussed in detail in the report of the Sub-Committee of the Parishad submitted here with as Appendix B ; and I do not think it necessary to do more than invite the attention of the Syndicate to that report for the purpose of showing the propriety of the recommendations.
