the essential religion.

All religions are merely helps to the Essential Religion. They are valuable in proportion to their power to deepen and strengthen our love of God and love of man by giving us correct notions of the Godhead and of our moral duties and increasing the fervor of our devotion. Taken in this point of view, Theism, the religion which we Theists profess, is the greatest help to the Essential Religion. Theism is the truest religion that has yet appeared in the world and is therefore the straightest path to salvation compared with other religions. Theism, as the highest and most developed form religion, entertains ideas of God, future state and morality far superior to other religions and there by facilitates the attainment of salvation in an eminent degree. Pious Theists would obtain salvation sooner and in an easier way than the pious of other religions. It is for this reason, we are Theists and propagate our dearly beloved Theism to the best of our power. This we do by presenting its intrinsic beauty to men instead of assuming an aggressive attitude to other religions. We do not now publish pamphlets against Hindoo idolatry such as the “Pauttalik Prabodka” or against Christianity such as the “Rational Analysis of the Gospel” as we did in the infancy of Brahmoism or Hindoo Theism.
